Caff-E Hill Farm

Located in Readyville at 3883 Cripple Creek Rd., Caff-E-Hill Farm was established in 1859 by James Newton Caffey (1823-1892) and Mary H. Youree Caffey (1832-1869). Caffey grew corn, wheat, hay and had a subsistence lifestyle.

After James’s death, son Samuel G. Caffey (1866-1925) continued with his wife Virginia B. Good Caffey (1862-1944). In the early 1900s, grandson Talmadge Caffey (1898-1980) and wife Willie D. Herrod Caffey (1906-1977) shifted more focus to beef and dairy cattle.

In 1995, Jack Scott Caffey, Jr. continued to farm with 130 acres. Caff-E-Hill Farm is significant because it represents a continuously operated family farm that has evolved from private production to specialization with cattle. NRHP 1995
