Samuel Fearn Perkins (1833-1885) and Theresa Green Ewin Perkins (1836-1916) built this home south of the Forest Home community in Williamson County. They wed in 1858.
His parents were Samuel F and Susan May Perkins of Westview in Triune - one of the grandest mansions in Williamson Co. His maternal grandfather was Governor Newton Cannon of Tennessee. She was born in Todd Co. KY at "Castle Coupee" to Henry Clayton and Eliabeth Hill Ewin. Her grandfather's brother was Col. Edwin Hickman for whom Hickman Co. TN is named. He was married to Martha Hickman. Her grandfather had land in just outside Franklin (Seward Hall, then in 2001 sold to developers as McKay's Mill. He had a mercantile business in Franklin. The Perkins couple purchased 540 acres from his father when they wed in 1858. His second wife was Eleanor "Ella" Ryburn Brown Perkins (?-1866).
In 1879, Perkins retired from the mercantile business and moved to the farm. Hill Side had increased to about 700 acres by that time.
