From Jackson-Madison Co.: A Pictorial History
Thomas McCorry (1776-1835) and Sarah Jones Parker McCorry (1780-1835) came to Madison Co. from North Carolina about 1828. The McCorry family owned a lot of land in Middle and West Tennessee. McCorry's grandfather was Col. Tom Henderson of North Carolina. McCorry was a land owner, farmer and businessman.
Their son Henry W. McCorry ) became an attorney in Jackson. He married Corinna Ann Henderson McCorry (1821-1850) in 1868. He started practicing in 1867 and joined with Stoddert Caruthers, Esq. for several years until 1871. In 1875, he was appointed judge of the common law and chancery court of Madison County until 1882 when he resumed private practice. Three years later, he was appointed by Pres. Grover Cleveland as United States Attorney for West Tennessee.
Henry and Corinna's son was Judge Henry W. McCorry. Judge McCorr (1845-1904) wed Lucy "Lou" Perkins Cole McCorry (1850-1890) in 1868 and later in 1868 became United State Attorney for West Tennessee.
Judge McCorry and Lucy's son Thomas McCorry (1872-1923) became a lawyer (McCorry & Sneed) and later a judge in Madison Co. as well. He wed Sadie Ella Mercer McCorry (1875-1969) in 1906.
In the 1950s, Mid-Town Company bought it and demolished it. The family is remembered with McCorry St.
