Norwood/ Father Ryan High School

780 Norwood Dr. Nashville, TN

Circa 1939/40

Was part of the Thompson estate from Glen Leven

Elizabeth Thompson Kennon (1892-1982) and Dr. William Gilliam. "Bill" Kennon (1883-1946) were owners in 1940. Elizabeth's parents were John and Mary McConnell Thompson. Dr. Kennon was an otolaryngologist (ear, nose & throat). They began subdividing her family's former land in the 1940s-60s. The name comes from the Kennon family ancestral home in Richmond for 200 years. Elizabeth shared a passion for gardening and floral matters with Ms. Howe of Wildwood - who gave her garden to Cheekwood.

Their granddaughter Carol Kennon Dick lived at 765 Norwood Dr. and likely moved to Lewsiburg, TN.

In 1991, Father Ryan High School moved from Elliston Place to Norwood Dr. off Franklin Rd. The Norwood house remembered through team Norwood as a student "house" at Father Ryan and Norwood Dr.
